Hello Taylor Swift Lover, I am going to give you my super legit credentials on why I am the right person to write this blog post on the best Taylor Swift songs to run to:

  1. I love her.
  2. I have been exclusively listening to Taylor Swift while running for the past 3 years? (Or more? It’s been a while. What else is there to listen to these days?)
  3. I like to listen to albums from beginning to end. I’ve come up with this list by listening to her albums all the way through, multiple times, and then picking the songs that made me smile or pick up the pace or make my run a little less crappy.
  4. I run frequently and have always loved running. Whether it’s my consistent 3 mile runs a few times a week or an ultra-marathon, I love love love to run.
  5. But also, I sometimes hate running. And I sometimes need a sick beat to get through an awful run. I know which Taylor Swift songs can pull a person out of a running funk.
  6. I will not list how many bpms a song is. If you’re looking for the scientifically best Taylor Swift songs to run to, maybe read a different blog post. I’m just a Swiftie telling you which songs have gotten me through run after run after run.

Read on and then add all these songs to a playlist to have the best future runs. Here’s a link to a playlist I made with all these songs included. Running is one of the best things you can do for yourself – mentally and physically. And listening to Taylor Swift while running just makes the already great thing even better.

Also, I can take criticism. If you think I’ve forgotten a song that deserves to be on this list, comment below with your reasoning; maybe I’ll add it. I realize that this list is subjective. I actually think one could argue that every single one of her songs deserves to be on this list because they’re all BRILLIANT. Getting lost in her poetic lyrics can help any run.

All Taylor’s Versions when available. Of course.

The playlist gets you 90 minutes of awesome best Taylor Swift songs to run to.

If you want just the best Taylor Swift songs to run to list – or click to take you to each song:

I Know Places – 1989

The way she yells “AND WE RUN” come onnnnn. Almost any song that has the word “run” in it should be included in this list, but this one especially.

Wonderland – 1989

Ok, how was this song not a single? HOW. It is a JAM.

Out of the Woods – 1989

Gahhhh this song is incredible. Just TRY to not sing along to  “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? 20 stitches in a hospital room…” while running. Instant boost.

Shake It Off – 1989

I don’t care how bad of a run I might be having, this song always makes me run faster. Always. It’s upbeat, and it literally reminds you to “shake it off.” Any negative parts of your day bringing you down on your run? Feeling bad that you haven’t run in a few days? Shake. It. Off.

Is It Over Now? – 1989

This song is worth listening to just for the bridge. It’s SO GOOD.

Look What You Made Me Do – Reputation

Yes to this song. It’s a great tempo, and it is just an excellent song to run to.

…Ready For It? – Reputation

I am convinced that this song can get anyone pumped. Just the beats at the beginning are enough to get you tuned back in to your run and accomplish what you set out to do.

Karma – Midnights

Ok, Midnights is obviously a phenomenal album, and I have listened to it countless times while running. But to try and pick singular great songs to run to off of it? Meh, it doesn’t shine as much as some of her others. Midnights should be listened to from beginning to end while running, but Karma is the best one for a running playlist. It’s fun, it’s light, and karma is always a nice thing to think about 🙂

Lavender Haze – Midnights

The original is great, but the remixes are also awesome during a run. I highly recommend checking them out.

I Knew You Were Trouble – Red

Of course this is on the list. I love it every single time it plays while I’m running. Also, I cannot help but think of the screaming goats video when I hear it, and it always makes me laugh.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together – Red

Red has a lot of great running songs, this one included. SO GOOD.

Run (feat. Ed Sheeran) – Red

I mean, the title. It’s not super upbeat, but I like hearing “Run. Like you run from the law. Darling, let’s run. Run from it all” It tunes me into my run. Also, I love Ed Sheeran, and this is an excellent song.

All Too Well (10 Minute Version) – Red

I will never be over this song. Personally, I think this is Taylor’s best song, and I CANNOT BELIEVE IT EXISTED FOR SO LONG BEFORE WE GOT TO HEAR IT. I can be a 10 min/mile pace runner at times, and this song equals one mile. I saw a TikTok where a girl ran a half marathon and listened to this song 13 times. The lyrics are the best. The whole song is too good to even describe.

Cruel Summer – Lover

This song is so good. Every time. I don’t care if you are on a snowy run in December, Cruel Summer is always good. There’s a reason this song somehow hit #1 on the charts years after it came out. It’s amazing. HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL.

I Think He Knows – Lover

This is just a fun, peppy song.

Paper Rings – Lover

I always sing along to this one when it comes on. It’s upbeat and great if you’re trying to pick up the pace of your run.

You Need to Calm Down – Lover

Just a phenomenal song. It has a great beat, and you can feel accomplished if you’re able to sing along to the fast lyrics. Gosh, writing about every one of these songs makes me admire Taylor more and more and more. She has so many incredible songs.

The Entire Folklore and Evermore Albums Straight Through

Ok, I know neither of these albums are particularly upbeat or heart-pumping, but they are both SO GOOD. And they’re best listened to straight through, not on shuffle. They’re chill, the lyrics are poetic, and I never get tired of them. I especially listen to these on repeat starting in the fall; one of my friends said Folklore “feels like a warm hug.” Agreed.

(These are not on the running playlist because of my belief that you need to listen to them straight through.)

You Belong with Me – Fearless

This one’s just fun. I recently went to a Taylor Swift Dance Party (it was amazing. Basically a 3 hour sing-along), and everyone looooooved singing to this one.

The Way I Loved You – Fearless

YES to this song. It’s incredible. “But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain. And it’s 2am and I’m cursing your name. So in love that you act insane and that’s the way I loved youuu.” SO GOOD.

Should’ve Said No – Taylor Swift

Yessss early Taylor Swift. Remember when she performed this and the “rain” soaked her on the stage? I will forever love this song.

Mean – Speak Now

Another upbeat, wonderful song.

Ours – Speak Now

This song is just so cute and wonderful that I always love when it plays during a run.

The Highway Don’t Care

Gahhhh this is a phenomenal song. PHENOMENAL.
